to be honest tho, I thought the wings were the edges of a skirt (kinda similar to the teal color of those robes at first glance) and that Daisy was staring at Jiggy’s rump.
What I want to know, is what is the significance of the wings? They are very different from all the other wings that have appeared in the comic so far.
@Lavabat There’s a piece of old concept art which indicates that the wings are part of a “diamond form” transformation that happens when Jigsaw obtains an oversoul. (The wings themselves can appear or disappear at any time regardless of transformation state, but they must be present in the event of diamond form.) How it’s possible for a vampire to obtain an oversoul is unclear at this point, as is the extent to which Rachel intends to stick to that plan. There’s a more detailed discussion of all this in the comments for the February 3rd 2013 comic (“Screw the Odds”).
And noone yet has pointed out that between her pose and state of…excitement that Jig is basically exhibiting that infamous MLP condition known among fans as the ‘wingboner’? 😉
@ Vulpis: not a MLP fan but from what i saw a few pages back, that action tends to go with the POMF! sound effect.
And if we’re pointing out details, then the sound effects indicate that Gabriel is indeed becoming a Sunny Snack…and regarding Jigsaw’s “It’s a scratch” comment, I can’t hold this reply back any longer.
Just a SCRATCH!? YOUR ARM IS OFF!
@Kermit: Though I notice the wings are quite a bit smaller then the concept art.
That might indicate a bit of change from the original concept or that she just has a bit of over soul to just get the wings to barely manifest.
Another possible trigger for her to have a oversoul or her wings to manifest might be that as of right now, the wings act more like a battery and solar cell. She builds up energy as forces of different powers are used against her. As her soul fills up from that energy supplied by a celeste or a dead inside using their power on her, her wings grow to store the a extra energy that vents from her overfilled soul. After all, their powers seem to be directly linked to their souls.
But of course, her wings might also act to add more surface area to allow for a greater pull of power from the environmental around her.
No real telling what her wings really signify. But I’m interested if Jigsaw is the first vampire to get them?
@Josh: I think ‘Saw is a little bit in shock. That is probably helping with dealing with her wings. I…I assume that that Daisy won’t try for more than three seconds to get them back in, if at all…or the page starts to go very “wrong,” innuendo-wise..
JaSunny said that Daisy was responsible for his life being hell, and that his mother had tried to have him neutered. This sounds like Jason at least believes that Daisy had something to do with this little transformation problem that’s been dogging him.
And Gabriel definitely deserves Jason’s wrath. In spades.
Or should that be: deserves Spades’ teeth, in Gabe.
@Sul I think it’s a toss-up. She clearly doesn’t have a problem with Djinn as such, given her relationship with Cracked Masters. There’s been some speculation that vampires were the ancient enemy that the Celeste and Djinn fought way back in the day, though, so Jigsaw could be in huge trouble if that turns out to be true.
@Kermit: I hope this doesn’t piss Rei off! Doesn’t seem like Jigsaw would stand much of a chance. 😕
My bet is that Rei already knows everything about Jigsaw. She may not have been aware of Gabriel’s scheme, but it’d be surprising if one of the Purebreds couldn’t see straight through Jigsaw’s artificial soul shell.
The not-so-extinct Vampires could definitely be the Otherworlders, but I could just as easily see their “extinction” being the Hybrid’s doing. Or perhaps they were decimated in the same way the Purebreds were, fighting the Otherworlders.
I’ve never bought that the Vamp’s were Otherworlders. I might buy that the Vamp soul pathogen started there, but Vamps seem mostly the same, post-Embrace, and why would such a disparate group decide to openly try to genocide the other two magic factions, simultaneously? As a unified front? If nothing else, I’d expect some percentage to defect or spy, because that happens in every war involving persons with free will.
@the_rippy_one i think that’s what the endless were, vampires who saw the war thought “this is stupid” and gave an alternative explaination to their near lack of soul
@vulpis Indeed i am but some people some to see me as megaman i’m not sure why and I’ve tried to explain but exposition is not my forte
Freewill is a thing that both starts and end wars. as for vamps being otherworlders it’s unlikely unless the whole human race came form outside the galaxy
Something tells me it won’t be that easy…
WIIIIIIIIINGS! At least the rest of her isn’t sparkling.
and wtf kind of sound effect is “wibble” XDDD that has me cracking up
to be honest tho, I thought the wings were the edges of a skirt (kinda similar to the teal color of those robes at first glance) and that Daisy was staring at Jiggy’s rump.
Awwwwwwww…her wings are so cute.
The Shiny!
Sparkly Vampire GET!
Ah, it ate my faux HTML tag. My last post should have ended with {/Mega Man}.
Back on topic. It looks like Diamond Saw mode has been awakened. Which is good.
She also more closely matches Veled’s prophesized “Harbinger of the End of all Sapient Life”. Which is bad.
@Shad: Couldn’t blame Daisy if she was staring at Jigsaw’s rear.
Wings. Wings are new. Let’s see what happens.
I do believe it’s time to update Jason’s cast page now. =^.^=
Wings…I remember Veled mentioning ‘Saw sprouting wings.
@ Lavabat: Indeed she did, and to quote a shocked Jigsaw, “I’m supposed to have freaking WINGS!?” or something very similar.
What I want to know, is what is the significance of the wings? They are very different from all the other wings that have appeared in the comic so far.
This comic has so many moments where I go,
WHAAAT?! What the hell is going on?!
… this is one of them.

Awwweee and they match her vector panties 😉

@ Josh.C: Or they could just be smaller because they’ve only begun to grow in for the very first time.
@Shad: There is that too.
A lot of things grow often with time and start out small.
I must say, Jigsaw is taking it well, if looking a little annoyed about them.
@Josh: I think ‘Saw is a little bit in shock. That is probably helping with dealing with her wings. I…I assume that that Daisy won’t try for more than three seconds to get them back in, if at all…or the page starts to go very “wrong,” innuendo-wise..
Wings about the size of Lorenda’s (DMFA). XD
They’ll grow in eventually! It’s glandular!

@shad that sounds more like the black-knight then jigsaw still it would make sense for a zombie / vampire joke.
does anyone else get the impression of a butterfly wiggling out of it’s cocoon in the next to the last panel?
@ e_voyager: What, i can’t make a monty python joke? what is the internet coming to XD
@shad ah i thought that’s where it was coming for but with kids today you can never be sure
I honestly have to say, this has got to be one of my all time favorite comic pages.
“Wibble Wibble” is the best sound effect *ever*.
Also, Jigsaw is having waaaaaaay too much fun watching Gabe get chewed on…
@Sabreur Considering that she’s a Talmi djinn, I can sympathize with her glee at seeing a Celeste slaver get what’s coming to him.
Who needs a red bull when you got cute pair anyways! :3
I do!. my wings tend to come at the cost of merging with a robot wolf
@e_voyager Really hitting the Bass notes, huh? 😉
What does Rei have to say about them? And how will they complicate Punchline’s deal with Veled? 😮
