when you pick the fallguy/girl always hire someone to take the fall who will never be believed because his records too scum-filled, con-men are the biggest preference, wanna be revolutionaries who have tried with multiple reasons, essentially you WANT the liars and psychos on the payroll, so when shit hits the fan they fall.
Incidentally, and maybe apropos of nothing, White Noise’s actual name is Silk of the Solar Winds. A “thread of Solar Silk,” huh? And that’s an Anyr who was a hacker that went to jail for it…
If we’re playing with quantum computing, encryption comes down to who has more qubits, you or the eavesdropper. the entangled comm should do wonders though. to bad it’s a 1-to-1 link.
@STrRedWolf: Somebody’s gonna be That Guy, so it may as well be me: quantum entanglement Does Not Work That Way. Entanglement provides information about a distant thing, but communication requires *action* at a distance. Acting upon an entangled particle breaks the entanglement, and doesn’t produce any kind of sign at the other particle that the entanglement has been broken.
Of course, that assumes real-world QM, which isn’t necessarily a safe assumption to make. Declaring that Entanglement-based communications works in your setting isn’t going to break anyone’s suspension of disbelief.
On the comic itself: I like all the little touches. (“We paid good crypto for this”: “crypto” is almost certainly short for “cryptocurrency”, the official generic term for computation-based currencies like BitCoin.) Is the number 195952365 significant in any way? (That’s the decimal notation for the hexadecimal number BADFEED.)
0xBADFEED is an example of using hexadecimal to write words. The reason the character is using 0xBADFEED is to keep them from being traced easily. 0x means that the pointer isn’t pointing to anything. BADFEED is the not a thing that the pointer isn’t pointing too.
It’s common for hackers to write 0xDEADBEEF to memory locations to prevent retrieval of the original data stored there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexspeak
So after reading the cast pages….I’m totally betting they’re using stuff White Noise made. He’s an anyr, was in prison (probably solitary), and…”sold” stuff he made while in prison.
Only real question is if White Text is also White Noise…(and the chat in later pages is him looking out for himself/fellow players/random people also on the station, and/or someone working with him for same reasons.) Guessing probably not, as next time is while he’s busy and says “will pay”, but he could be multitasking and have some way of…acquiring funds.
BUSTED
Oh hey, look who just volunteered to take the fall for Murphy…!

that connection is as invisible as a 6 lane super highway.
What’s an Anyr?
Wait what? Who’s talking? I’m confused by this…
@Blind Gardener: White Noise and Murphy are both Anyr.

I prefer quantum-split electrons for point-to-point communications… followed by insanely strong crypto.
